Dan Rutecki is March’s Athlete of the Month.

Daniel Rutecki, a senior starting member of the men’s basketball team is being named The Crown’s Athlete of the Month after scoring his 1,000th career point in March.

There were two minutes left in the game verse Wilkes University when Rutecki received a pass off an inbound play from Tommy Heston. Rutecki went up for a layup to score his 1,000th point.

“My 1,000th point is my biggest accomplishment in my basketball career,” Rutecki said. “Coming into college, I never would’ve thought that I would score 1,000 points, and I am very appreciative of all my teammates since freshman year that could make this accomplishment possible for me.”

Rutecki was recently selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for Men’s Basketball. He is also currently on the national ballot to earn a spot on the Academic All-American Team.

Rutecki, a finance and accounting major and economics minor, also has a strong academic resume.

A consistent Dean’s List student, Rutecki is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, the Financial Management Association National Honor Society, Institute of Management Accounting National Honor Society, the Aquinas Honor Society, and the Delta Epsilon Sigma Honor Society.

Rutecki volunteers at the Special Olympics program at King’s. He practices basketball with the Special Olympians to help them get ready for their competitions.

“The ultimate prize that I want to complete my career at King’s with is a MAC championship.” Rutecki said.
