Halloween in Wilkes-Barre
Candy corn, trick or treating, spooky, sexy and questionable costumes; sounds like a fun night, right? Welcome to Halloween in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
While some school districts in our area, notably Inglewood Elementary School in Montgomery County and North Penn School District, are cutting out Halloween traditions, King’s certainly is not. Campus Activities is gearing up for a fun filled afternoon for students.
On Halloween, October 31, campus activities is dressing up their office and passing out candy, college style.
“Campus Activities is doing a trick or treat in campus activities event from 1-4pm,” said Erin Carr, Campus Activities Team Leader. “Students can come by and get candy from us!”
If you’re more of the night time trick-or-treater, haunted houses around the area are sure to capture your attention. Haunts around the area offer hayrides, trips around houses and ShockWalks. From Ransom Township to Nanticoke, the area loves Halloween.
King’s College freshman, Juliana Mizenko, enjoys the haunted houses. Friday night trips to the spooky sights. Dracula’s Forest is a favorite of Mizenko’s and her friends.
“I’m not a fan of the hayride but I enjoy the Shockwalk,” Mizenko adds.
Horror Hall, in West Nanticoke, which benefits the Plymouth Township Fire Department, advertises for you to “get your socks scared off.” Fear Hollow in Rice Township, which benefits America Legion Post 781, has the “dead woods.”
If you’re looking for a family friendly trip to the spookier side, Eckley Miners Village sponsors the Haunted Lantern Tours. The tours showcase the village and lets customers join in song. Skits are preformed and jokes are cracked.
Whether it’s on or off campus, spooks are all around!
