Ware’s Recovery Inspires Us All
While most of America was celebrating Easter festivities, there was a young man simply doing what he loves and was thankful to move onto another day. Louisville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware suffered a horrific injury during the Cardinals win against Duke in the NCAA tournament regional final on Sunday. Most of America had just finished their Easter dinner and sat down to watch what was supposed to be a great basketball game between two college basketball powerhouses. But instead, people left the game not caring about the result but rather just the health and future of Ware.
Ware suffered the injury during the first half of the game and the injury is described as compound fractures of his tibia and recovery time is expected to be a year. Ware was rushed to an Indianapolis hospital, where the game was being played, and underwent emergency surgery. He was visited in the hospital later that night by his Cardinals’ teammates and coaches and presented with the trophy from the game. Ware was released from the hospital late Tuesday night and gave his first interview since the injury for ESPN on Wednesday. You can watch the interview here.
Ware is expected to travel to Atlanta for this weekend’s Final Four with his Cardinals teammates. His story is one that goes beyond sports. It is one that you can’t help but get emotional over hearing and it is story that will always be in our hearts.
